Insect Shield apparel is registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums), while our gear is registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and flies.

Unlike bug sprays, Insect Shield's insect repellent treatment is odorless, leaves no residue, and does not absorb into your skin. It is undetectable to you but not to the bugs (2005 BOIS Bio-Monitoring Study, Info Scientific Inc., Manassass, VA). This makes it effective against insects like mosquitoes and ticks that can carry dangerous diseases such as Lyme disease, West Nile, and malaria.

Insect Shield is tightly bonded to fabric fibers, providing long-lasting repellency that is expected to last the lifetime of the garment. The repellency can withstand up to 70 launderings for apparel and 25 launderings for gear.
